I let it analyze and run, came back 24 hours later and it wsa still stuck on 1% so i assumed it failed/was not working properly. I tried running the original Windows built-in defrag, it said it was never run. Anyway this defrag is going to take ages which is why I'm writing replies on reddit. RAID0 will simply split the fragmentation between multiple drives, RAID1 will mirror it, 10 will be a combination etc. RAID itself will not manage fragmentation of the individual drives. In the case of a CT study, which may be up to 8000 separate images, fragmentation can cause a big issue especially using older software which can only retrieve images asynchronously, when you want the whole study to be loaded in seconds, not minutes. Cloud is not often used in this case because of sensitivity of latency and uncommon 10Gb internet connection speed (and hospitals still rarely use cloud). I've started a defrag on a 24TB volume full of images (xray/ CT/ MR etc) for a clinic as they were complaining of slow image retrieval speeds.
